Malcolm Wilson rally report 5.3.2005
On what is nearly a home event for Niall, the MG ZR lined up in cockermouth
high street for what was to be for many a very testing Malcolm Wilson rally.
The first stage in comb forest saw many competitors caught out by the sudden
apearance of ice and led to many cars off the road. On a really slippy part Niall
and Pamela came across dozens of spectators pulling a corsa from the trees, hitting
the ice made the steering and pedals useless and it was only by taking to the ditch
where there was some grip that a trip to the undergrowth was averted!!! Niall followed
the corsa for about 100 metres before the vauxhall driver put it into another ditch!
Niall decide to 'go canny' after this and plodded round to get to the finish. The ZR crew finished the day with no real drama's and were delighted with 1st 'N1' and 8th O/A in the BTRDA 1400's.
The DMS ZR ran without a hitch all day although the crew had a wee bit of luck, see the pic of the front Yokohama. The rear wheel scrapers also took a bit of abuse as well.
Next event for the ZR will be the North Humberside rally on the 2nd april.
