Quinton rally report 10.7.2005
A scorching hot day at Llandovery welcomed the Diamond Motorsport crew
as they prepared to tackle the 2005 Quinton stages rally. Niall and Pamela
knew another win would hand them the N1 championship and they set of on the
first stage with a view to throwing the gauntlet down to the other N1 crews.
Unfortunately their main threat,Clare Samuel lost oil pressure in her VW Polo
and retired at the end of SS1. After a lot of years rallying Niall knows only
too well how cruel a sport this can be so nothing was taken for granted.
Everthing was going to plan with some good times being set until SS4 when
a rock punctured the sumpguard and damaged the tank guard,a quick look showed
the petrol gauge at empty and the crew feared the worst. It turned out that the
sender had been damaged but it could have been much worse.
No further drama's arose and the crew finished almost 3 minutes clear of their nearest rival, 1st in N1 and 48th o/a.
The crews next outing will be the Woodpecker in september
